Breedon are currently seeking a BI Lead, to join our Information Services team based at Lockington, near Derby.

This is a high-profile role where, as a leader, you'll build the value of Business Intelligence and Insight across the Breedon Group. Leading a small, innovative and dynamic team, and working in partnership with our Managing Directors, you'll shape the look, feel and execution of the BI strategy. You'll build on the great work that we have already begun, to further transition Breedon from spreadsheets and manual reporting into automation, robust analytics and clear insight enabling data driven decisions. The role is key in facilitating change.

Key Role Accountabilities:

Working as part of the IS Leadership team, you will:

  • Lead and develop your specialist team to build and share skills and knowledge and deliver a resilient strategy.
  • Drive the team to identify, define, and capture the specific business requirements for Business Intelligence and developing this into Management Information; always with the end user in mind.
  • Create and drive the implementation of design standards to create consistency across Tableau that leads to MI that presents information in a way that users can easily understand and interpret.
  • Drive the provision of Business Information and Insight.
  • Acting as the key point of contact for stakeholders as varied as Managing Directors to Site Managers and Weighbridge Operators, proactively building relationships and understanding the needs of the business areas.
  • Building the underpin of the data and analytics needed for the Breedon digital strategy, against a backdrop of growth and business integration.
  • Evolve the strategic direction of the Datawarehouse for Digital enablement.
  • Setting the strategic direction for MI and creating the long-term MI roadmap, aligning teams and thinking at both a strategic and detailed level.
  • Working with teams to drive the use of the Dashboards, focusing on how the Dashboards can change ways of working to enhance daily operations.
  • Anticipating future analytics and how this can build more effective metrics.
  • Proactive consultation and advice on how data can be transformed into valuable information and implemented into daily ways of working and continuous improvement opportunities is key.
  • Coordinating the delivery of improvements to master data management across key data areas such as commercial, technical, customer, supplier, and financial areas.
  • Solving complex data issues through detailed analysis and understanding of data processing, systems processes, and data warehousing.

Challenges that are likely to fire you up:

  • Our Data. We've been on a major growth trajectory in recent years, through merger & acquisition. You'll enjoy the challenge of creating exceptional data quality and adherence in a diverse and fast-paced business.
  • Our MI Roadmap. We have some highly engaged stakeholders who are keen to move quickly on MI delivery. You'll enjoy getting our leaders onto the same page with the same standards and demonstrating and creating commitment to the art of the possible.
  • End-to-end thinking. With speed and growth can come disjointed quick fixes. You'll be an end to end thinker who enjoys the thrill of making our people's lives easier and value the simple, rather than the complex.
  • Strategic Thinking and Operational Delivery. The role requires you to think in the longer term and shape the strategy for Business Information and Insight, set the path for the team and roll your sleeves up and get involved in the data, the analysis and in making it happen.

Strengths you'll bring:

  • Confident communicator with sound judgement and credibility to convey your thinking. You'll initiate action and have the tenacity to hold senior leaders to the outcome. This can mean taking a firm hand to drive consistency and having the gravitas to set a direction and pull leaders towards it.
  • Highly self-aware, where you can adapt your style and communication to suit the stakeholder group and situation. This is a highly changeable business environment where active prioritisation, comfort with ambiguity and decision making is needed.
  • Excellent consulting, influencing and stakeholder management skills with a strong customer focus with the ability to translate technical issues in a simple way that's appropriate for the audience. You'll be a strong influencer, willing to stand by own point of view and substantiate with evidence. You'll actively seek and understand the input of others to gain broad alignment to ideas; influencing and shaping where appropriate.
  • Highly self-managed and can think ahead to establish the right course of action. You'll prioritise, plan and have strong project management capability. You'll be able to assimilate and interpret data and problem solve; identify, resolve and convey complex problems simply to aid rapid performance and issue resolution.
  • Ability to lead and inspire a team to embrace the challenges, share learning, grow and optimise solutions in a fast-paced B2B and B4B market.
  • Extensive experience in a BI and/or data and analytics environment, data warehouse management and optimisation.
  • Hands on experience in the set-up of new business processes and embedding them into "business as usual" practices, with the ability to decipher and organise large amounts of data.
  • Ideally, you will have used data analytic tools such as Tableau and Power BI.
  • Ideally, you will have worked in an Agile team and have experience of using tools such as JIRA and MS SharePoint.
  • Ideally, you will have been exposed to finance and procurement processes and systems
