Portakabin have an opportunity for a Sub-Contract Buyer to join our GB Sales team, based at our Head office in York. The purpose of this role is to provide a full and professional procurement service that delivers cost effective purchasing, to meet the diverse sub-contract requirements of GB Sales. This is an exciting time to join the team, giving you the opportunity to have a direct impact delivering the strategy for the Department, in line with the overall improvement of our Frameworks and Supply Chain strategy for Portakabin. To be successful in this role, you will have Sub-Contracting Buyer experience, as this role sits within the Construction division of the Portakabin business. As a buyer, your role will be to provide a full and professional procurement service - that delivers cost effective purchasing, to meet the diverse sub-contract requirements of our GB Sales department. Role Details
  • Salary: up to £37,000 Plus annual bonus.
  • Role based: York
  • Contract type: Permanent
  • Annual leave: 25 days plus bank holidays

What you'll ned to do as a Sub-Contractor Buyer
  • Assist with the delivery of procurement strategies that deliver the best possible levels of service to the Company, with appropriate performance indicators in place to analyse and monitor continual effectiveness.
  • Manage the procurement of all Subcontract packages across GB Sales projects.
  • Establish & maintain relationships with internal stakeholders, ensuring effective cross functional team working.
  • Establish & maintain collaborative relationships with Strategic subcontractors, conduct SRM reviews in line with Central Policy (SCOC).
  • Identify opportunities to improve product/processes to increase profitability.
  • Pass down project specific terms and conditions of contract into the supply chain to ensure the Company's commercial position is protected at all times.
  • Maintain the approved supplier list through Supplier Engagement.
  • Manage, maintain, implement and negotiate supplier and service level agreements to support SMB/Green projects.

What we need from you: You really must have:
  • A Full UK Driving licence
  • Experience in Preparation of Sub-contract procurement documentation
  • Experience of working with Sub-contractors
  • Understanding of Procurement methodologies
  • Previous Buyer/Construction industry experience
  • Good Negotiation skills
  • Ability to influence

  • IT literate (MS Office & SAP knowledge preferred)
