Cabling Supervisor Location - Itchen

The Role - Supervising teams of cable pullers pre pulling underground cables, pre Roding underground ducting's Labouring.

Key responsibilities
  • Carry out all pre pulling / pre Roding tasks as directed by the Civils Team Manager and/or the daily work pack ensuring full compliance with H&S requirements.
  • Operate in a manner that ensures you help the Virgin Media installation teams hit their targets.
  • Re instatement works may be carried out in gardens, footpaths e.g. slab, concrete, gravel or driveways e.g. tarmac, block paved etc.
  • Ensure that all work is completed in line with company SOP and other technical documents.
  • Ensure that work is completed with full regard to H&S requirements.
  • Ensure all work on external plant is carried out with full regard to NRSWA regulations.
  • Complete works in a manner that does not generate customer complaints.
  • Complete and submit all necessary documentation, including timesheets with accuracy.
  • Carry out any other duties or tasks deemed necessary by your line manager.
  • Ensure excellent working relations are established and maintained with key interfacing areas and support functions.
  • Maintain vehicle and equipment in good order ensuring efficient working practices are adhered to.
  • All works on the Highways to be completed in line with company H&S guidelines and industry standards.
Key Skills and Qualifications Essential
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety and NRSWA requirements.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and demanding environments
  • Able to undertaking manual labouring activities
  • To be able to work unsupervised using their own initiative.
  • Experience of working with power tools when necessary.
  • Experience working in cable laying or similar environments.
  • To be able to demonstrate the ability to be a positive influence when working as part of a team.
  • Able to demonstrate an ability to resolve difficult situations in all weather conditions.
  • To be able to demonstrate a professional approach.
  • Self motivated.
  • Good communications skills
  • Desirable
  • NRSWA Qualifications.
  • Be able to use the following gas monitor test equipment
  • Full driving license essential.
  • Experience of safe working on the highways.
  • Experience in the use and operation of Abrasive Wheels
  • Experience in minor excavations and reinstatements, including reinstatement of both sealed and modular surfaces.
