Are you passionate about your trade?

We're looking for qualified Carpenters to train the next generation - and you could be perfect!
Training, teaching or assessing carpentry is a great option if you:
*Want to top up your income alongside your current role
*Are retired, semi-retired or looking to down tools
*Would like to gain new skills and possibly a teaching qualification
*Want a rewarding position where you can pass on your skills
You're not confined to working in a classroom - we work with colleges, training providers, end-point assessment organisations and local authorities, so you could also be supporting learners in a workshop, on-site, or in their workplace.
With roles available from full time to just a few days a year - no matter your situation, we're sure to have something to suit your lifestyle.
You must:
*Be professionally qualified in your trade to a minimum of level 3
*Have at least 3 years of industry experience
*Previously mentored, trained or supported a junior member of staff (an apprentice is ideal)
Even better (but not essential) if you:
*Have a teaching qualification - PTLLS, CTLLS, DTLLS, PGCE, Cert Ed
*Have an assessing award - A1, IQA
*Have specialist qualifications in your subject area
*Have previous formal teaching or training experience
The construction industry in the UK has experienced a massive boom in the last few years - but with a shortage of great teaching and assessing staff, the education and training sector is struggling to keep up with demand for fresh talent. More students than ever want to learn a trade; but the providers can't find enough skilled carpenters to deliver the courses! With demand pushing wages up, and a wide range of different roles on offer - there's truly never been a better time to start working in education.
There's plenty of different roles to consider within education, and not all of them need a traditional teaching qualification. Our clients are looking for lecturers, tutors, trainers, assessors, end-point assessors, technicians, and managers specialising in carpentry - and many will even support you to undertake a teaching or assessing qualification while you're working.
You'll also need to undertake Safeguarding and Prevent training, as well as apply for an Enhanced DBS Certificate - but Protocol can help you through all of these!
If you'd like to find out more about carpentry roles in education, or would just like an informal chat about your options, we'd love to hear from you - contact us on 0115 911 1222 or jobs@protocol.co.uk today!
