BIO applauds bipartisan action by Senate Agriculture Committee to advance biotech food labeling solution as an alternative to costly and confusing patchwork of state laws. According to BIO’s Brian Baenig, legislation seeks to establish clear, uniform standards for labeling of foods made with genetically modified organisms. This will help provide consumers with information about foods in the marketplace while keeping food costs low and protecting farmers’ rights to use modern technologies.

NREL will help first group of small clean energy businesses advance their products under DOE’s Small Business Vouchers pilot. To overcome technical challenges inherent in bringing innovations to market, individual SBV vouchers ranging from $50,000 to $300,000 per small business will be used to initiate collaborative research projects or to receive technical assistance from labs. Selected businesses will access world-class laboratory resources to help move innovative ideas closer to marketplace.
