In his statement following Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) announcement to regulate methane from existing oil and gas sources, National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) VP of Energy and Resources Policy Ross Eisenberg urged the administration “to avoid issuing any unnecessary or duplicative regulations that would limit manufacturers’ access to critical energy resources.” Eisenberg cited reductions in GHG emissions and rises in economic value, jobs, and solutions development.

Nearly 5,000 students across USA are preparing for Team America Rocketry Challenge (TARC); 789 teams of secondary school students will vie for 100 spots in TARC national finals, which will be held May 14 outside of Washington, DC. According to AIA President and CEO David F. Melcher, “skills students discover and build while participating in this program will propel them to pursue education and careers in STEM fields, specifically in the aerospace industry.”

BIO’s Jim Greenwood, in his statement regarding Senate HELP Committee mark-up of legislation as part of Senate biomedical innovation initiative, applauded bipartisan votes. Specifically, Greenwood cited passage of The Advancing Hope Act of 2015, reauthorizing Pediatric Rare Disease Priority Review Voucher Program. He also spoke to passing of Medical Countermeasures Innovation Act of 2015 as well as legislation adding Zika virus to Tropical Disease Priority Review Voucher program.
