SES – Society for Standards Professionals and U.S. Celebration of World Standards Day Planning Committee are co-sponsoring annual paper competition for individuals in U.S. standards community. Authors may choose to address 2016 World Standards Day theme of “Standards Build Trust” or another domestic (U.S.) or international topic of their choosing. Top Prize is $2,500, and submissions are due by midnight August 19, 2016.

Fabricators and Manufacturers Association (FMA) and CNA announced recipients of 2016 Safety Awards, which recognize metal fabrication companies with ongoing commitment to safety excellence. On FMA’s behalf, its president and CEO Edward Youdell said this year’s winners “set an incredibly high bar” for manufacturers and congratulated them for doing so. CNA’s Franklin Maccotan added, “This accomplishment could not be achieved without a culture dedicated to safety and risk management.”

In partnership with National Science Foundation (NSF), BIO will feature Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR)-funded, early-stage industrial biotech companies at BIO’s 13th Annual World Congress on Industrial Biotechnology (San Diego, CA from April 17–20). BIO’s Brent Erickson explained that, “Through the SBIR grant program, qualified companies can move forward and bring innovative technologies to market” and encouraged attendees to “stop by and learn about these exciting companies.”
