Hydraulic Institute (HI) named Paul Ruzicka as its 2015 Member of the Year for his commitment to HI in leading and actively participating in various HI committees in advancement of HI’s technical work as well as guiding young engineers. Ruzicka held leadership positions on 10+ technical and education committees over past 2 years. In 2015, he supported industry as HI’s technical representative at DOE’s public hearing regarding the proposed energy conservation standard for pumps.

U.S. EPA announced availability of $26 million in funding to reduce emissions from nation’s existing fleet of diesel engines. EPA is soliciting proposals for projects that significantly reduce diesel emissions and exposure, especially from fleets operating in areas designated as having poor air quality. Priority will be given to projects that engage and benefit local communities and applicants that demonstrate ability to promote and continue efforts to reduce emissions after project has ended.

One of 11 offerings in ASHRAE’s Spring Online Course series, Variable Refrigerant Flow System Design & Application will take place May 16. Course provides non-manufacturer specific concepts of how to apply VRF systems to buildings. It will supplement the fundamental technology introduction presented in the 2012 ASHRAE Handbook, HVAC Systems and Equipment. Course is geared toward consulting engineers, HVAC system designers, and facility engineers.
