Registration for “Making Net Zero Net Positive: Solving the Efficiency & Cost Paradox” opened as of March 21. This free webcast, scheduled for April 21, 2016 from 1–4 pm EDT and offered by ASHRAE’s Chapter Technology Transfer Committee (CTTC), will feature  presenters discussing technical and financial challenges in achieving net zero buildings. Presenters include David Underwood (ASHRAE), Marc Brune (PAE), Philip Macey (AIA), and Paul Torcellini (NREL).

BIO applauded Iowa’s Senate for approving 5-year, $105 million production tax credit for renewable chemicals and helping to drive innovation in this new sector. Speaking on behalf of BIO, vice president of its Industrial and Environmental Section Brent Erickson pledged to support Iowa legislature, other states, and federal government in helping “to level the playing field in economic development incentives for renewable chemical and biobased manufacturing technologies.”

ASC Spring Expo reaches record levels.

ASC Spring Convention and EXPO 2016 will feature 82 companies. According to ASC president Matthew E. Croson, the event “connects new and emerging technologies to the formulating community.” Since 2010, ASC Spring EXPO has experienced growth. There were 52 companies in 2010 and, due to 7% compounded annual growth rate and commitment to emphasize technically oriented programming, overall event has expanded from average of 350 attendees during 2000s to reaching 550–600 attendees in 2014–2016.
