We are Kier, one of the UK's leading Construction and Infrastructure service, working on large scale Infrastructure projects. We are currently recruiting for a Change Manager / Senior Quantity Surveyor reporting into the Managing Quantity Surveyor/Commercial Manager. You will be responsible for the commercial function to support the delivery of a bespoke £95M clean water treatment works.
Key Responsibilities
You will work independently managing specific areas of the project. You will have overall day-to-day commercial responsibility for the delivery of the works from inception to completion. This includes subcontract management, VCR management, change control, forecasting, final accounting. You will be supported by the wider team including Managing Quantity Surveyor and the Commercial Manager.
- To assess, review and mitigate commercial and contractual risks and implement Kier Group's policies for risk management.
- Measure works carried out and reconcile to Target Cost;
- Ensure cash flow is maximised including ensuring payments are received on time
- Provide commercial input including financial and contractual performance forecasts to the management team. Help ensure that business targets and KPI's are exceeded
- Provide assistance, guidance and support to the operational teams in the areas of: Contract Compliance, The financial impact of decisions; Value maximisation/cost saving techniques; Procurement strategy
- Accurately monitor, forecast and report project cost and value;
- Prepare Monthly and final applications for payment - monitoring of such accounts against forecasts
- Implementation and compliance with the contract change control procedure and monitoring thereof including notices to client as appropriate
- Identification of change and support the Change Control procedures on the project
- Placing and subsequent financial management of sub-contract agreements;
- Assessment and payment of sub-contract applications for payment in line with contractual, industry and business requirements (including the issuing of notifications);
- Ability to interrogate cost reports and interpret financial data reconciling cost and recognising value
- Maximise works profitability, minimise commercial risks.
- Mentoring and managing junior team members
- Regular liaison with Client on project financial update
What do we need from you?
- Experience within a similar role
- Experience on NEC contracts with Target Costs
- Experience within the construction or civils industry
- Excellent IT skills including the use of the Microsoft business suite
- Experience of Oracle and Causeway accounting systems
- Good communication skills with Client facing attributes
- Full UK driving licence
- Experience of framework civils/utilities contracts
- Familiar with the Aconex Contract portal
- Degree in Quantity Surveying
- Working towards / attained Professional membership
