We are a leading aerospace manufacturing company based in Essex, delivering high-precision components to some of the biggest names in the aerospace industry. As part of our continued growth, we are looking for an experienced Chief Inspector to lead our inspection team and uphold the highest standards of quality and compliance. As Chief Inspector, you will be responsible for overseeing all inspection and measurement activities across the business, ensuring that components meet stringent aerospace specifications and customer requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise the inspection team (Goods In, In-Process, and Final Inspection).
  • Oversee first article inspections (FAIRs) and final release processes.
  • Ensure all inspection equipment is properly calibrated and maintained.
  • Drive adherence to AS9100 and customer-specific standards.
  • Develop and implement inspection procedures and best practices.
  • Work closely with Quality, Production, and Engineering teams to address non-conformances and implement corrective actions.
  • Conduct training and mentoring of inspectors to ensure continuous skills development.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough inspection records and documentation.

Qualifications, Experience and Attributes Required:

  • Proven experience in a senior inspection or quality role within aerospace manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of AS9100, FAIRs (AS9102), and aerospace quality requirements.
  • Skilled in the use of precision measurement tools (micrometers, height gauges, CMMs, etc.).
  • Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Leadership experience with the ability to coach and develop a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving mindset.
  • Knowledge of non-conformance investigation and root cause analysis.
