Role overview
Breedon are currently seeking a highly motivated and organised individual to join our Breedon Bow Highways joint venture as Commercial Assistant, based at our head office at Breedon on the Hill near Derby.
In this role you will be responsible for supporting all commercial functionality of the business that operates on the National Highways Pavement framework, as well as supporting the wider operational team on a day-to-day basis.
The key responsibilities of the role are:
- Providing support to internal teams in relation to scheme pricing, programming and liaising with clients on product and service solutions to meet their requirements
- Supporting the commercial function in preparing estimates for new opportunities
- Accurately prepare, negotiate and analyse costs for tenders and contracts
- Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure best value supplies and services, whilst establishing key relationships
- Review estimates against contract performance to constantly ensure accurate and effective bids
- Monitor and manage KPI's, both internally and externally
- Review and monitor progress and project delivery to anticipate and identify problems and opportunities, working collaboratively to manage these
The ideal candidate will have industry experience, preferably within highway surfacing or civil engineering. You will be logically minded, possessing excellent organisational skills, and be confident dealing formally and informally with all stakeholders. You will also have excellent IT and numerical skills, the ability to work under pressure, and the ability to adapt, in order to minimise any unnecessary costs and impact to the business.
