Kier Places are recruiting now for two Commercial Cost Estimators to join our Facilities Management team in Basingstoke, to produce accurate Estimates and Quotes for Tier 1 and Tier 2 works for our Public Sector contract, ensuring that we raise accurate Estimates and Quotes that will provide value for money for the Client and profitable margins against work undertaken by Kier. Key Responsibilities

As a Commercial Cost Estimator, reporting to the Commercial Quotes Supervisor, your role will involve communicating with internal and external customers with the aim of achieving accurate & right-first-time quotes and estimates, reviewing & challenging appropriately for value and transparency, and ensure quote tenders are fairly recommended.

As a focused Commercial Cost Estimator, you will need to review and verify labour & material rates in line with agreed rates; ensure estimates are produced using Schedule of Rates (SORs) or where appropriate Bespoke Rates, and ensuring appropriate margins are achieved. We will also trust you to ensure Estimates and Quotes exceeding £3k are reviewed by the Quotes Supervisor and any necessary amendments made prior to submission; and ensure that for quotes exceeding £10k, 3 tenders are submitted and provided with a recommendation for the Client or ensure evidence of single tenders be provided.

As a Commercial Cost Estimator, working collaboratively is key to this role, as you will need to liaise with Contract Managers for technical advice and pricing queries, achieve performance targets, and support the team/ department in achieving broader performance goals.


What do we need from you?

The ideal Commercial Cost Estimator for this role will be someone with experience of working in a similar industry coupled with knowledge of the quotes, application and billing process, together with a clear and demonstrable understanding of end-to-end revenue streams and their impact on profitability.

This is a great opportunity for someone working towards a Quantity Surveying qualification, or you may have a background as Project Admin, Commercial Admin or in Estimating, but you will need to have excellent communication skills and the ability to liaise effectively at all stakeholder levels.
