We are working with an established utilities organisation based in the East Midlands to help them find a Commercial Manager who can start a 3 month contract immediately.

As an experience Commercial Contract Manager, you will have extensive knowledge of NEC and JCT contract management, negotiation, and dispute resolution while ensuring compliance with regulatory and company policies. Typical contract values range from £5k to £500k, with the business simultaneously managing multiple contracts across its regional operational network of Branch Offices.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Manage and oversee the administration of New Engineering Contract (NEC) and/or Joint Contract Tribunal (JCT) contract frameworks with our key clients.
  • Develop contract briefing documentation to advise operations on liabilities, KPIs, scope and specification requirements, supporting throughout the contract negotiation phases.
  • Monitor through the project financial and commercial reporting the site performance (profitability, opportunity, and risk) and report to the Head of Operations monthly. Or where any concerns are raised
  • Support pricing strategies with operations to ensure quotations align with business goals, including challenge to ensure balance between competitiveness and margin
  • Identify risks and opportunities within contracts and advise stakeholders accordingly
  • Assist with when required or requested key claims/compensation events/early warnings that the teams may be pursuing
  • Managing contractual variations and events management processes, ensuring that all information and communication with clients is aligned with contractual obligations.
  • Collaborate with operational and financial teams to resolve commercial issues and support decision-making processes
  • Drive and promote the development of the teams to ensure all operational team members improve their competency



What You'll Need:

  • A focus on providing excellence in commercial management
  • Ability to work with our teams to identify improvement opportunities to increase profitability and manage risk
  • Technical knowledge of a variety of forms of contract with an in-depth understanding of NEC and JCT Contracts, who is experienced in their negotiation and application within construction, infrastructure or engineering industries
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Quantity Surveying or related field
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to influence and manage stakeholders
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficiency in contract and project management software, including Microsoft Office Suite.
