Commercial Manager - PFI Facilities Management

Location: Flexible working available, where you can be based from one of our Cardiff, Loughton, Basingstoke or Sheffield offices, with home working available and some travel to other offices/sites across the UK

Business Area: Kier Places - Facilities Management - PFI Commercial team

Contract & hours: Permanent, full time - Monday to Friday

Kier Places are recruiting now for a Commercial Manager to join our Facilities Management PFI Commercial team to take full ownership of the Commercial discipline of a varying number of PFI contracts, and have overall accountability & responsibility to increase value, reduce cost, drive profit, and manage risk in a safe and ethical manner.

As our main offices are Cardiff, Loughton, Basingstoke & Sheffield, we are looking for you to be within a commutable distance of one of these offices, and you should expect frequent visits to our contracts, clients and other Kier offices through the country, including but not limited to, London, South Wales, Staffordshire, Greater Manchester, Yorkshire & the Midlands. Our services & clients include: total facilities management (TFM), soft, hard or technical services, lifecycle upgrades & project refurbishments for Schools, Hospitals, Councils, and Police & Fire Rescue Authorities.

Key Responsibilities

As a trusted Commercial Manager, you'll ensure the smooth running of contracts, ensuring penalty charges & risks are minimised, with full accountability of profitability, margins, cash targets, forecasts, variations, contract reviews and overall contract performance. You'll also have ownership of the lifecycle works, including lifecycle plans, variations, costs and planning expenditure; motivate & encourage your team work closely & collaboratively with subcontractors and clients, providing support to solve issues & disputes where required; maintain relationships with all stakeholders, including regularly meeting & visiting operational teams & clients at site; and ensure resourcing and capacity management against varying project demand.

With a passionate focus, you'll be proactive in developing and driving the commercial plans & performance; seeking solutions with clients & supply-chain; lead the process associated with market testing, benchmarking, utilities reconciliations and agreements of new rates; driving efficiency and performance of direct delivery teams and subcontractors; and lead on client dispute resolution - these are highly complicated contracts and will require an excellent understanding of the contract, payment mechanisms, performance out puts, service level agreements, KPI's, penalties and Kier and SPV obligations.

Collaborative working is key as a Commercial Manager, where you'll work closely with the Management Team to roll-out initiatives; work with the other Commercial managers to ensure a clear joined up methodology is maintained providing a consistent quality of work, and best practice is shared and adopted; contribute to the overall commercial direction of the business and its prosperity, safety and risk management; and play an active role in the promotion of health, safety & wellbeing, continuing the drive for safer working, ensuring that any unsafe acts are reported, and undertaking site safety audits.

What do we need from you?

To be a Commercial Manager with Kier FM, you'll hold a relevant commercial, finance or construction/property qualifications, and be chartered or working towards your chartership; have experience in a PFI commercial & contract environment, as well as experience in a similar role; and have experience of management, with the ability to develop & motivate colleagues & reports, effectively influence stakeholders, and confidently deal with senior stakeholders, including lawyers, clients & Kier management.

With a drive deliver the best possible product for the client whilst growing the business in accordance with our sustainable growth plans, you'll bring with you a strong, broad knowledge of laws, regulations and industry trends.

Due to the nature of this role, you'll be able to travel across the UK to a variety of locations & sites when required.
