About the role;
Reporting to our Head of ESG & Compliance, this is a newly created role to lead the compliance function for China and includes both operational and regulatory compliance. It is a broad ranging role responsible for setting up a compliance framework, implementation of policies & procedures and supporting businesses on risk and compliance.
Main responsibilities & duties:
- Implementation of the Global Code of Conduct and supporting business policies
- Ensure that the above policies fully address the China specific laws, regulations and best practices, making recommendations where gaps are identified.
- Implementation of local control processes to ensure the global compliance requirements are fulfilled.
- Conduct regular internal risk assessments, including employee awareness of policies and regular internal audits of third parties.
- Monitor accounting and finance and maintain detailed and accurate records to ensure the transparency, integrity, and authenticity of accounting records.
- Hold and document regular compliance training for all employees.
- Implement an internal pre-approval/reporting procedures.
- Establish and develop strict controls and documentation requirements, setting firm limits and controls.
- Establish strict standard operating procedures are in place.
- Conduct appropriate due diligence on, and consider training for, third parties that may interact with government officials on behalf of the company.
- Monitoring closely third-party intermediaries who are regularly used to help establish relationships and conduct business in China.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant rules and regulations.
Person Specification
This is a stand-alone role and the successful applicant will be responsible for keeping up with the changing political and regulatory developments, ensuring that we have all up to date process and procedures in place.
- A strong education background, degree educated
- Full Professional proficiency in UK English (written and verbal)
- Experience in design, strategy execution and oversight of compliance gained in the pharmaceutical industry in China.
- Organised, inquisitive, innovative problem solvers with the ability to perceive, understand and interpret facts quickly and precisely.
- Professionals with solid time management skills, the ability to multitask and see the big picture.
- Strong technical skills with experience of preventing, detecting and remediating compliance violations.
- Deep understanding of the Chinese culture.
- A resilient individual who is not afraid to challenge at all levels.
- Data driven in decision making with the ability to analyse, focus on the key issues and communicate with clarity.
