Contract Building Surveyor Job in SW London
Contract Building Surveyor job in South West London for a Local Authority joining their building surveying team to deliver a wide variety of both new build and refurbishment projects. The role is offered on a rolling contract and offers a pay rate of £30 - £32 p/h + travel expenses to sites and Hybrid Working.
The role will be working across two London Local Authorities and will see you working on a mix of education, civic, leisure, retail, public realm, parks and libraries typically contract values of £4k - £300k.
Role & Responsibilities
- Designing and implementing projects from inception to handover
- Provide expert knowledge in building forensics
- Use of AutoCAD
- Carry out the role of Principal Designer
- Specification writing, feasibility reports and design proposals
- Undertake a desktop assessment of any key planning requirements or other potential constraints
- Attend Planning Application meetings, Community Engagement sessions and the like
- Respond to urgent queries, site inspections, investigate building defects and advise appropriate action
- Site progress visits and reporting
- Ensure compliance with all applicable Building Regulations, British Standards, Legislation, Statutory Requirements etc.
- Undertake value engineering exercises in line with the project budget
- Promote and ensure adherence to Sustainability and Health and Safety policies
- Motivate and mentor a graduate/apprentice as required
- Calculating and monitoring project costs and delivery timelines
- Providing quality assurance for ongoing projects
- Collaborating with clients and other internal and external consultants and contractors
- Detailed report writing, giving presentations and meeting with clients and management
- Adhering to security controls and requirements.
Required Skills & Experience
- 5+ years in Building Surveying
- Preferably Chartered MRICS or MCIOB although not essential
- AutoCAD is essential
- Construction Project management experience from inception to completion
- Relevant Degree in Building Surveying or similar
- JCT contract knowledge
- Public sector and private sector backgrounds considered.
