We are currently looking for a Contracts Manager to join our Highways team in Ipswich to assist the Planned Works Manager and work closely with other Suffolk Highways business functions, to achieve the successful delivery of the annual contractors plan and programme.
Key Responsibilities
As Contracts Manager you will be responsible for the project management and delivery of specific schemes/projects emanating from the capital works programme for Suffolk Highways across a range of different asset groups, this will include schemes related to drainage, structures, road surface treatment, footway improvements, local highways budget and minor works. The works will also include any major projects promoted via Suffolk County Councils transport strategy teams. To be responsible and accountable for project managing schemes to ensure tasks relating to delivering design and construction quality, timeliness, risk and commercial are completed in accordance with Suffolk Highways processes and procedures. Full supervision and coordination of all service provider(s) either through internal delivery or the external supply chain to deliver site specific schemes/projects both efficiently and effectively. Assist the Planned Works Managers to prepare works programmes which link back to the delivery of the contractor's plan. Ensure that effective programme management processes (including risk management) are followed. Manage the end-to-end delivery of schemes, ensuring a RAID (Risks, Assumptions, Issues & Dependencies) log is kept for each programme of work.
We are seeking candidates who?
- Hold operational experience in the delivery of highways schemes including coordination of service providers
- Are New Roads Street Works Act (NRSWA) accredited
- Have a health and safety qualification or demonstrable equivalent training or qualification
- Demonstrate a qualification in a relevant discipline (relevant to engineering or programme / project management) or equivalent demonstrable experience related to project management and delivery
- Understand safety standards and SHE regulations for a variety of scheme types including working on live carriageways
- Are managing and maintaining a works programme and associated resources in an engineering or operational environment
- A company car or allowance
