Location: Loughton

Kier Construction London are looking to recruit a Corporate Social Responsibility Manager.

Overall purpose of the role:
  • Reporting to the Communications Business Partner this role will involve major contribution towards the Kier Construction London's (KCL) CSR strategy and reporting requirements.
  • Main link between Group and KCL - working closely with all departmental heads and project teams to ensure KCL compliance with all CSR targets and focus areas as noted in Kier's Strategy of a Sustainable Business Policy i.e. people and communities, environment, marketplace and governance (Responsible business, positive outcomes [RBPO] are delivered as part of Vision 2020)
  • Main link between KCL and the Kier Foundation to ensure we meet our annual CSR event requirements.
  • Main link between KCL and our local Communities, Schools, Colleges and Universities to ensure that KCL's commitment to CSR is evident - also to enquire on what their CSR requirements might be and how we can assist in meeting their targets.
  • Manage KCL's Apprenticeship programme - Work alongside HR to manage this process and achieve all benchmarks.
  • Ensuring Community Engagement through regular Communication updates.
  • Brand Ambassador - monitoring and strengthening brand compliance in the business.
  • Main Shaping Your World Ambassador- promote and embed the Shaping initiative within our business and the communities we work in.
  • Create and manage a network of CSR champions in the office and on sites to assist in all CSR activities and to embed CSR deeply within our business.
  • Manage the social value measurement and development process - importing all relevant data into Kier's Shaping our Communities Calculator (SoCC) system.
  • Working with the auditors on data collection and assurance activities for CSR reporting
Key tasks and Accountabilities
  • Research the effectiveness of all areas of the CSR strategy in the business including people and communities, environment, marketplace and governance.
  • Work in partnership with the SLT, Comms Team and CSR Champions network to develop new initiatives and improvements related to environment, marketplace and governance issues.
  • Drive internal and external recognition of KCL's CSR agenda.
  • Develop and project manage new social value and community engagement initiatives - must show ability to build a business case approach to delivering improvements in non-financial performance.
  • Attend monthly Building UK meetings with the Senior Impact Leadership Team.
  • Produce CSR activity communications - external features for social media channels, blogs and the Kier website; internal features for the company intranet MyKier.
  • Write and distribute monthly and annual CR Reports - link these reports to Group's CSR benchmarks.
  • Ensure accurate data collection across all sites and activities and record it via the SoCC (Shaping our Communities Calculator) system.
  • Work closely with all internal stakeholders on the delivery of RBPO and support engagement by producing regular reports, updates and case studies on all CSR activities.
  • Build internal networks through attending forums, presentations and meetings
  • Represent KCL at internal and external events as required
  • Deliver presentations to management and colleagues where needed.
  • Provide monthly and quarterly information for the Board reports.
  • Contribute to ongoing review of RBPO, delivery and operational effectiveness.
  • Liaise with local Communities, Schools, Colleges and Universities to enquire what CSR activity is needed - project manage all such activity (including producing all Comms collateral)
  • Manage KCL's Apprenticeship programme - Work alongside HR, procurement and supply chain to understand and deliver apprenticeship requirements to achieve frameworks outputs.
  • Ensuring Community Engagement through regular Communication updates.
  • Brand Ambassador - monitoring and strengthening brand compliance across the board i.e. offices, sites and all CSR events.
  • Main Shaping Your World Ambassador- plan, book and manage all KCL Shaping events and coordinating all KCL Shaping Ambassadors' activities to ensure we meet all the requirements outlined by Group. Data capture all activity for Group reports.
Essential Skills and Experience
  • Sufficient experience in CSR in a large, private sector organisation.
  • Strong passion for sustainability.
  • Accomplished project manager with experience of managing CSR events and programmes.
  • Expertise in managing communications, writing and designing materials including possessing excellent written communication and copywriting skills, with an ability to write in a variety of styles.
  • Exceptional communicator, skilled at engaging and motivating employees at all levels.
  • Excellent organisation skills, ability to work on multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong people person, gifted at building relationships and networks with a variety of audiences with a proven ability to communicate ideas and influence both internally and externally and possessing good presentation skills.
  • Creative, resourceful and uses own initiative.
  • Self-sufficient as well as a key team player.
  • Ongoing organisational skills with practical experience of planning, managing and delivering projects under time pressure.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in written, visual and numeric work.
  • Strong academic qualifications
