Job Title: Damp & Mould Operative
Hourly Rate: £20 per hour
Location: Lewisham Area

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Damp & Mould Operative to join our team, specialising in remediation work across social housing schemes and local authority properties. Your primary focus will be assessing, treating and monitoring damp and mould issues in housing stock, ensuring a safe and healthy living environment for tenants.

Key Responsibilities

  • Attend inspection and treatment sites as scheduled, travelling in the company-provided van.
  • Diagnose damp and mould problems (e.g., rising damp, penetrating damp, condensation, black mould) and recommend appropriate treatment solutions.
  • Carry out remedial works in accordance with industry best practices, health & safety protocols and regulatory standards.
  • Document all work carried out: complete reports, photographs, treatment logs and sign-off with the tenant or property manager.
  • Liaise with tenants, housing officers and property managers in social housing and local authority environments, maintaining a professional-helpful demeanour.
  • Ensure all consumables, equipment and van stock are kept organised, clean and ready for use.
  • Adhere to vehicle usage policies, complete mileage/fuel card logs and report any vehicle issues promptly.
  • Comply with relevant health and safety legislation, regulations (e.g., COSHH, asbestos awareness, safe isolation) and company procedures.

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Full UK driving licence
  • Proven experience working in social housing, local council or registered provider property maintenance or refurbishment (damp & mould remedial experience would be advantageous).
  • Strong technical understanding of damp/mould remediation techniques and causes.
  • Comfortable working inside occupied properties and dealing sensitively with tenant's concerns.
