Defect and Maintenance Programmer

Location: Flexible within Area 6 - Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex and parts of Cambridge

Kier Strategic Highways is looking to recruit a Defect and Maintenance Programmer to join the Areas 6&8 highways maintenance contract.

Job Purpose:

To assist the Area Manager in the day to day management and deliver of maintenance activities and defects ensuring they are recorded, allocated and rectified within contractual guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Control the programming and delivery of maintenance activities
  • Control the programming and delivery of defect rectification
  • Develop maintenance solutions by reviewing traffic management proposals to ensure delays are minimised efficiencies are identified and safety is not compromised.
  • Assist the Area Manager in ensuring defects are allocated and rectified within contractual guidelines making use of the Highways England IAMIS system
  • Assist with the allocation of traffic management for maintenance, defects and schemes activities.
  • Take an active role in assisting the Traffic management team, Network Occupancy team, Network Control Centre (NCC), Contractors, Local Authorities and Police in the administration of works on the network to alleviate congestion due to road works.
  • Liaison with claims team to ensure relevant details to administrate and process third party claims.
  • Using the Kier ECM system, ensure Damage to crown property works documentation is gathered, quality assured and uploaded in a timely manner.
  • Provide support to the Operations manager on CPF reporting
  • Make appropriate use of IMS procedures to actively promote health and safety, risk assessments, programming of works, updating asset on the network.
  • Actively promote Health and Safety in the workplace, setting a good example to other employees and ensuring awareness of and compliance with general Health and Safety responsibilities as set out in the Health and Safety Management System.
  • Perform other duties as may from time to time be reasonably required.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Applicants should be IT literate and have strong database skills
  • Essential Relevant experience of working in a multi task team environment.
  • Experience of highway inspection and maintenance
  • Experience of incident management
  • Able to work on own initiative
  • Possess good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Diligent in recording details and reporting
