The Position
We are currently recruiting a Design Coordinator to join the Building Safety Department based from our Head Office in Loughton, Essex, and across varies sites around London. Offering a complete end-to-end service for high-rise and mid-rise façade remediation schemes, deliver the tender and construction drawings in line with the procurement and construction programmes and site inspections. Working closely together with fire engineers, consultants, quantity surveyors, subcontractors, and site team. This is an exciting new role, and we are seeking an enthusiastic and organised Design Coordinator to assist with design and building safety management.
You will be responsible for the following duties:
- Coordinating project information between internal teams and external consultants and assisting the technical manager in the continuous improvement of systems and processes across the building safety department.
- Report on any risks, slippages in the issuing of information against programme, lack of coordination on the drawing and specification received from the design team and D&B subcontractors.
- Actively maintain the drawing and specification received on site from the design team, consultants, and subcontractors.
- Issue buying and procurement departments with information packages for quantifying, tendering, and purchasing equipment and materials for site.
- Maintain the building control and building safety tracker and monitor the design team to ensure the comments/conditions are dealt with then released. Coordinate site inspections with the site team and monitor reports / actions.
- Ensure designer risk assessments and residual risk evaluations have been done by the design team and are filled, acting as the principal designer.
- Maintain knowledge of the changes/updates to current legislation and regulation which affects the design team and site processes.
The Person
The ideal candidate will currently be employed as a Design Coordinator, Technical Coordinator, or a similar design focused role within the construction industry. Previous experience working on RC Frame, Residential schemes is crucial. The successful candidate will also demonstrate the following:
- Successful track record of leading complex design projects, proven ability to define and implement the right strategy depending on the circumstances and requirements.
- An understanding of modern and traditional construction techniques including traditional brick and block load-bearing structures, various cladding systems.
- An understanding of preconstruction activities including town and country planning, design management, site investigations, procurement, and tendering procedures.
- Mental and intellectual toughness to confront and solve problems, often through others as well as by themselves.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, Design/Graphic Packages, Microsoft Project, Aconex, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Educated to degree level or equivalent (Architect/Engineer background) would be beneficial but not essential.
