Design Director Job in Southwark, London

Rare opportunity for a Design Director to join a well-established commercial design and fit-out company based in South East London. The role will see managing the whole design process from concept through to completion, whilst working with and mentoring a talented team of creatives to deliver a wide range of commercial projects across London and the rest of the UK.

With a long-standing history of delivering unique and inspiring commercial interiors, this company has gone from strength to strength over the years. Currently operating with a team of 150+ designers, architects, visualisers, and creatives, working from their London office. This is a rewarding role with the chance to join a leading firm within their sector during an exciting period of growth.

Role & Responsibilities

  • To understand and assess projects from initial concept, ensuring they align with the practice's standards
  • Liaise directly with clients, leading presentations and meetings
  • Manage the design process across all stages, ensure the required standard is achieved and the design is in-line with the initial brief and project deliverables/objectives
  • To manage and mentor members of the team, including designers, architectural staff, and CAD support technicians
  • Provide design solutions and promote creativity
  • Promote internal policies and procedures, ensuring the highest standards of health & safety
  • Stay up to date with industry trends

Required Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years of industry experience within commercial fit-out or D&B
  • Relevant industry degree - interior design/architecture
  • Strong AutoCAD, Adobe Suite, and hand sketching skills
  • Confident communicator, both written and verbal. Able to liaise with clients and lead presentations
  • Team management experience
  • Ability to travel to sites/client meetings as and when required

What you get back

  • Salary of £80,000 - £120,000
