A great opportunity is available for an experienced Design Team Leader to contribute to and lead on the successful delivery of the programme of work by feasibility studies, scheme identification, designing, developing and overseeing sound design solutions to meet client requirements within budget and timescale, following Kier processes and procedures as well as any Client specific requirements. Contribute to the regular reporting of progress to external and internal Clients and communicating with internal line managers regarding progress against planned programme. Assist in the mentoring and development of staff to grow organically and the development of in-house value management capability. Management and Supervision of staff including resource monitoring, H & S compliance and quality and delivery. This role reports into the Design Manager and is based in Cardiff.
What do we need from you to be successful?
- Be fully conversant with Highways England's 3D passport process to the required level
- Competent or have working knowledge of Highways England Value Management Guidance process
- Strong technical skills and experience of highways maintenance and feasibility/design preferred
- To be able to work with or advise client on technical issues at a senior level
- Experience in developing VM summary / contract documents in accordance with relevant contracts
- Good working knowledge of the DMRB and other relevant standards and guidance notes
- Good working knowledge of H&S procedures and CDM Regulations
- Good organisational skills
- The ability to communicate well in the written and spoken word is essential
- Ability to perform within a team.
- Computer literate with competent ability and knowledge of MS Office Suite
- Degree/Higher National Certificate or Diploma in Civil Engineering or equivalent with appropriate experience to be able to undertake the role
- C Eng/I Eng with appropriate Institution (ICE, CIHT, RGS, CIWEM) desirable or working towards achieving this
- Work towards or hold a Pavement Engineer Certificate (with The Institute of Asphalt Technology)
