An exciting, fixed term (or secondment) opportunity has arisen for a Distribution Coordinator to join our distribution team for a 12-month period. Reporting into the Assistant Distribution Manager you will provide the highest standards of service to Portakabin & its clients in the UK and Europe, and you will actively engage with internal/external customers and suppliers throughout the Portakabin business, to achieve optimal outcomes in all that you do. Role Details
  • Salary: £23,000 - £28,000
  • Role based: York, YO32 9PT
  • Contract type: 12 month fixed-term contract
  • Annual leave: 25 days plus bank holidays pro rata
Role Responsibilities
  • Ensure that contracted vehicles are used efficiently and safely.
  • Be vigilant to and pro-active in all matters of Health, safety and environmental management, exercising your statutory & moral duty of care at all times.
  • Follow and comply with documented business procedures.
  • Maintain effective communications with all stakeholders & provide a comprehensive distribution service to Hire Centre colleagues. Give advice and quotations, arranging site inspections and route surveys as necessary.
  • Maintain appropriate relationships with sub-contractors whilst adhering to the departments prevailing commercial policy, observing relevant rate tables when agreeing sub contract haulage.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of approved haulier's fleets and capabilities & keep up to date with changes.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of statutory regulations for the handling and transport of abnormal loads and those which relate to Portakabin products & keep up to date with changes.
  • Be pro-active in maintaining effective departmental records & statistics.
  • Be pro-active and assist in making the department the best it can be through flexibility and enthusiasm.

Our Ideal Candidate We are looking for someone who has:
  • Lorry loader Experience / AP qualified
  • Experience in a similar role
  • Working knowledge of SAP
  • Organisation and planning skills
  • The ability to solve complex problems and think analytically
  • An Awareness of Lorry Loaders & Vehicle Configurations
  • Negotiating, Influencing and Persuading Skills
  • A customer focus
  • Health and Safety Awareness
