Summary
As Divisional SHE Manager the main purpose of your role is to be the lead contact for all Health and Safety issues within your division whilst supporting the Group SHEQ function. A leadership role within the regional management structure that requires your attendance at regional board meetings where you will provide in-depth reports on H&S matters. This role can be based in any of your regional offices when working in an office-based environment is required.
Please Note: This vacancy is to cover our North West Division of which consists of Greater Manchester, Merseyside and Cumbria with regional offices in Rochdale, St Helens and Penrith.

Main Responsibilities
- Supporting and assisting operational management teams across all functions in H&S matters
- Coaching and mentoring site management teams in H&S compliance
- Acting as regional champion for Gleeson H&S brand - HomeSafe
- Undertaking advisory site inspections (scored site inspections by SSUK Ltd)
- Undertaking detailed accident investigations and presenting the findings including root cause and lessons learnt
- Arranging H&S training as and when required
- Vetting and approving subcontractors H&S documentation
- Carrying out H&S inductions for new Gleeson employees
- Identifying methods for continually improving the H&S performance of the division and helping to set targets and objectives
- Producing monthly regional H&S reports and presenting these at the regional board meetings
- Taking positive and firm action to prevent and stop unsafe acts when required
- Working closely with the Head of SHEQ in developing and instigating group initiatives
Ideal Candidate
This position would suit a passionate Health and Safety Manager looking to take ownership of all health and safety issues whilst supporting the group H&S function. This is a leadership role working closely with the Divisional Managing Director and Regional Operations Directors to ensure high health and safety standards are maintained across all sites.
- Recognised H&S qualifications
- Housebuilding experience (advantageous)
- Performed in the same and/or similar level position for at least 5 years
- Good IT skills
- Confident communicator - written and verbal
- Willingness to travel across the division as and when required
