Catfoss Recruitment Ltd are currently in partnership with a globally respected R&D company that is looking to recruit a EDM operator to their expanding manufacturing team on a permanent basis.
EDM Operator - Key purpose of the job:
Working as part of an integrated D&M team responsible for producing high-value 1-off model components to quality, time and budget, in accordance with Project manufacturing tolerances and schedules. Primary responsibilities include 2D + 3D wire eroding and plunge eroding of high value, high precision, one off components in various materials.
EDM Operator - The Role:
* Wire Erosion: Operation of machines to include, 2D and 3D programming of parts to drawings and DXF files
* Plunge Erosion: Operation of machine to include, design and manufacture of tooling to produce complex components
* Ensure regular communication and co-ordination with Team Leader, Technical Lead and other manufacturing teams to ensure understanding of progress with part manufacture, in particular required quality and delivery dates
* Ensure that the minimum direct (project) booking requirement is achieved for work completed
* Operate multiple machines as required
* If handover of work is required, ensure this it carried out effectively and that adequate notes and technical advice are available
* Make recommendations on observations for process improvement techniques and hardware operation
* To undertake such other duties and responsibilities as may be reasonably required within the grade and level of the post
* Complete basic maintenance of machines
* Maintain stock of tooling
* Liaise with Machine supplier and software developer
* Comply with Quality Standards and be an advocate for Continuous Improvement
* Comply with Health and Safety and Environmental procedures
* Comply with Site Security procedures
EDM Operator - The Person:
* Proficient writing programmes using AlphaCAM. Must have knowledge of: Importing of geometry, establishing tooling and clamping sequences, creating optimum tool paths, and determining optimal speeds and feeds
* Proficient and experienced operator and competent at on-machine program adjustment
* Experience of tightly toleranced bespoke component manufacture
* A team player, confident and capable of mentoring and coaching less experienced staff if required
* Flexible and positive attitude, willing to go the extra mile to ensure that project manufacturing schedules are met or exceeded
* Self-motivated and keen attention to detail, in terms of quality of work produced and adherence to project schedules
* Drive and commitment; can-do attitude to overcoming technical problems as soon as they arise

The successful candidate must satisfy security clearance requirements - including the last 5 years continual UK residency.
