Catfoss Recruitment Ltd are currently in partnership with a globally respected R&D company that is looking to recruit an Electrical and Electronic Engineer to their expanding team on a permanent basis.
ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONIC ENGINEER
The Systems Engineering Team is a multi-disciplined team of electrical, electronic, software, mechanical, and control engineers who deliver and maintain capabilities required to operate the plant and company R&D facilities. As part of the team you will enjoy a highly varied role involving work on various capabilities integrating many aspects of electrical and electronic engineering such as:
* Instrumentation, data acquisition, and signal conditioning.
* Control panel design.
* Safety circuit design.
* Monitoring systems.
* Rotating machines and associated drives ranging from a few kilowatts to 17,000kW.
* Electrical actuators for the control of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
* Low voltage and HV systems.
Electrical and Electronic Engineer - What we are looking for from you?
* An honours degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, or a related degree such as Electrical or Electronics Engineering with demonstrable industrial experience.
* At least 2 years of relevant industrial experience.
* To produce and maintain control panels that interface to sensors and actuators for controlling and monitoring plant, rigs or equipment.
* Methodical troubleshooting and debugging skills, with a passion for problem solving and investigation.
* Produce wiring diagrams for control panels and associated rigs and plant.
* Familiarity with and application of change management and approval, version control, and testing processes.
* Be equally comfortable working individually and collaborating as part of a team.
* Contribute to and, in time, take ownership of the project lifecycle:
o Eliciting requirements.
o Conducting feasibility studies and developing concepts.
o Producing designs and participating in design reviews.
o Producing test plans and user manuals.
o Overseeing the manufacture and installation.
o Commissioning.
o Providing user training, defining maintenance, and operational support.
o Maintaining and upgrading new and existing capabilities.
* Produce risk assessments and method statements for work conducted on plant.
* Good time management skills to ensure that deadlines are met or exceeded to maximise operational availability.
Electrical and Electronic Engineer - Desirable skills:
* Familiar with National Instrument's (NI) CRIO and PXI hardware platforms, or similar.
* Demonstrable experience of producing designs that comply with relevant legislation and standards, such as:
o The Machinery Directive
o IEC 60204 - Safety of machinery - Electrical equipment of machines.
o ISO 13849 - Safety related parts of control systems.
o BS 7671 - The IET wiring regulations.
* Conduct Failure Modes and Effects Analysis on existing and new systems.
* Strong analytical skills to assist with data analysis and problem identification.
* An understanding of HV switchgear, cabling, machines, and substations.
* Knowledge of programming languages, such as LabVIEW, Pilz PNOZmulti Configurator.
* Experience of using serial, Ethernet, or industrial communication protocols
* Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, and piping and instrumentation diagrams.
* Familiarity with the configuration of Windows PCs and hardware.
