Introduction:

South West Water provides drinking water and waste water treatment to cover over a Million Households across the South West of England. Kier helps in the maintenance and installation of Mechanical & Electrical Works from small pumping stations to flagship water treatment processes plants. Kier works in a framework with South West Water delivering planned and reactive maintenance & installation works to the network.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Electricians must possess particular practical, productive and electrical engineering skills with adequate technical knowledge so as to be able to work on their own proficiency and carry out electrical installation work without immediate supervision in the most efficient and economical manner.
  • Exercise a thorough working knowledge of the current IEE Regulations for Electrical Installations, of the Electricity Supply Regulations 1988, issued by the Electricity Commissioners so far as they deal with Consumers' Installations (i.e. Regulations 22-29 inclusive and 31), of any Regulations dealing with Consumers' Installations which, may be issued, relevant British Standards and Codes of Practice, and of the Construction Industry Safety Regulations.
  • Undertake detailed electrical installation tests and verification and complete the necessary test documentation.
  • Interpret design information and client specifications.
  • Must be able to liaise with and build good working relationships with clients' representatives.
  • Set out electrical installations in an appropriate and efficient manner.
  • Produce appropriate site reports, detailing progress and areas of delay.
  • Produce accurate material lists in a timely manner to facilitate timely procurement.
  • Lead electrical teams ensuring that work progresses in accordance with agreed programme.

Skills and experience required:
  • Current EU driving licence
  • Relevant CSCS card
  • Completed of all mandatory training laid down by the training matrix
  • Competent at operating hand tools, test instruments and equipment
  • Thorough understanding of Health & Safety regulations in respect of self and others and the potential impact of your actions of others
  • Completion of a registered relevant apprenticeship or undergone equivalent method of training and have had practical training in electrical installation work
  • Must have obtained a pass in the City & Guilds 2360 Electrical Installation Theory Part 2 Course or approved equivalent
  • Must have demonstrated competence and obtained a suitable qualification (the City & Guilds 2391 is a suitable qualification) in the inspection, testing and commissioning of installations
  • Have additional relevant qualifications or relevant experience in the job role and/or can demonstrate progression
