An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Electrician to work on tunnel maintenance. This position reports to the Tunnel Operations Manager and is based in Birmingham. The main purpose of this role is to carry out routine preventative and reactive maintenance on Tunnels, Plant rooms and pumping stations on the Birmingham Highways Interim Services Contract. Responsibilities include: Carrying out maintenance and construction works in accordance with the contract; Attend regular meetings with Supervisor/manager to review progress and maintenance operations; Assist with the completion of the maintenance programme ensuring accurate recording and documentation of work is maintained and ensure work is carried out in compliance with the relevant Quality Plans, Method Statements, Risk Assessments and Inspection and Test Plans. The successful person must be available to work weekends/nights as and when required.

What do we need from you to be successful?

  • Experience of installation/maintenance of electrical systems
  • Experience of installation/maintenance of LV control and distribution panels
  • Experience of maintaining pumps/pumping stations
  • Good working knowledge of maintenance programming.
  • Good working knowledge of risk management.
  • Experience in the maintenance of Highway Tunnel operations
  • Experienced in the successful delivery of maintenance / construction projects to tight time and budget constraints.
  • Conversant with the Microsoft Office suite of programs.
  • Full UK Driving Licence
Appropriate Qualifications

  • City and Guilds NVQ level 3 Electrical Installation
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
  • ECS Card
  • City and Guilds 2391 Test and Inspect
  • Confined Space Training (desirable)
  • IPAF 1A, 3A, 3B (desirable)
  • Low Voltage Authorised Person (desirable)
  • First Aid Certificate (desirable)
  • Fire Safety Co-ordinator/Marshal Certificate (desirable)
