Facilities Management where people come first.
The Kier Facilities Management team offers an incredibly wide range of innovative management and maintenance solutions, right across the UK - from the RAF Duxford base that welcomes over 20,000 visitors a year, to local fire stations that help protect millions of people. We're a crucial part of Kier Places, providing hard and soft facilities management to hundreds of Government department sites and public buildings - offering you a role that will challenge and reward you, every single day.
Kier Places are recruiting today for a Multi-Skilled Electrician, where your role will be key to supporting the delivery of a Facilities Management Hard & Technical Services solution for our prestigious client, the Ministry of Justice. You will be providing planned & reactive maintenance with an Electrical bias across the Ministry of Justice National Probation Service Estate, covering an operational area of Bedfordshire, Northamptonshire, Cambridgeshire and near counties.
Key Responsibilities
As a focused and reactive Multi-Skilled Electrician, you will deliver a combination of electrical & building fabric planned and reactive engineering services, across a region to multiple client sites including Approved Premises & Probation Offices. You will be assisting in ensuring Kier deliver a safe, customer focused, cost effective, efficient and compliant service in order to meet its contractual and legal obligations.
Electrical activities will include changing lights, broken switches sockets, installing new supplies, carrying out electrical tests such as annual emergency light testing, DB checks, RCD checks, and basic general maintenance actives such as fixing whiteboards, changing lamps, basic carpentry or ironmongery and small repairs. You should also be comfortable working on ladders, in tight spaces, and in plant rooms; working alone or in a team; and be comfortable moving/transporting tooling & access equipment of all sizes & weights.
This role involves providing emergency response to reactive jobs to make safe or fix the issue dependant on the skill/repair type required, based on an evening & weekend call-out rota.
What do we need from you?
The ideal candidate for this role will have held a similar building maintenance or facilities maintenance role, covering a range of electrical & general maintenance activities. You will also have obtained a relevant Level 3 NVQ/City & Guilds qualification, and 18th Edition Wiring qualification - Test & Inspect would be a bonus but not essential.
Due to the nature of this role, you should have a clean driver's licence, and be willing to work on the callout rota (1 week in 4) which can require evening and weekend callouts.
What will you receive?
You can expect a competitive salary and an outstanding package that includes a matched pension scheme up to 7.5%, 26 days' annual leave + bank holidays (with the opportunity to buy or sell holiday) together with two employee Share Scheme options (Sharesave and Share Incentive Plan). Due to the nature of this role, you will also be required to complete a Basic Disclosure and Barring Service Check (applicants with criminal convictions will be treated on a case by case basis.
