We have an exciting opportunity for an Employee Relations Manager to join our Kier Places HR Team. Reporting into our Head of HR, this role will advise and guide stakeholders across the business on a broad range of employee relations topics.

Location: Flexible, hybrid location with expectation for travel as required
Business Unit: Kier Places
Contract: Full-Time, Permanent

Key Responsibilities

The role will also involve, but not be limited to:

  • Oversee the case management of ER issues, such as performance, capability, employee grievances, disciplinaries, flexible working, absence, discrimination issues and workplace concerns
  • Personally support with managing complex ER issues
  • Manage any Employment Tribunals or ACAS conciliation processes
  • Ensure that ER investigations are conducted thoroughly and fairly whilst supporting and coaching line managers on appropriate behaviours and process
  • Proactively maintain and apply current knowledge of UK employment law, communicating to the HR team and wider business where appropriate, any upcoming changes and new policy developments
  • Take ownership of tracking ER activity against metrics, supporting and advising on trends and themes and putting forward recommendations to proactively address underlying issues
  • Upskill managers with relevant training, to develop our pool of managers who can support ER cases at investigation, disciplinary and appeal stages

    What are we looking for?

    A highly organised and structured individual with effective conflict management skills. You'll have previous experience within HR, ideally specifically Employee Relations role through an in-house or consultancy environment, and extensive knowledge of UK employment legislation. You'll have strong IT skills, particularly with Excel and an ability to problem solve and provide a range of potential solutions. You'll also be flexible to the changing requirements of the business and provide a challenging approach where required.
