As a highly skilled and personable ER Specialist, you will bring your expertise to effectively manage a high-volume caseload of employee relations (ER) cases. Your focus will be to provide leaders with consistent, comprehensive, and pragmatic advice and support, ensuring compliance with best practices, organisational policies, and employment legislation.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to be a strong advocate for early intervention approaches, utilising mediation, and coaching skills to collaborate closely with leaders and colleagues. By employing proactive strategies, you will aim to prevent the escalation of issues into formal processes fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.

As a self-starter you will also play a key role in supporting the People Operations Team by contributing to organisational and operational projects that are instrumental in driving positive change. Your communication skills and personable nature will enable you to build strong relationships with leaders and colleagues facilitating effective collaboration and problem solving. By being proactive and solution orientated you will play a crucial part in creating a supportive and inclusive work environment that values and respects the well-being of all employees.

Key Deliverables and Accountabilities:

  • Main point of contact for cases, effectively manage and escalate matters to the People Leads, ensuring clear and concise communication throughout the entire process by way of providing updates, gathering relevant information and co-ordinating actions.
  • Proactively manages a large caseload of 15 to 70 cases concurrently, covering various aspects of ER, including performance, sickness absence, disciplines, grievance, redundancies and SOSR cases.
  • Conduct thorough investigations, interviews, and fact-finding to gather relevant information, recognising when it is necessary to escalate cases to Legal Counsel and People Leads.
  • Support change projects within the business, offering TUPE support and ensuring a smooth transition for employees during the change period.
  • Collaborate with People Leads, Legal Counsel and other stakeholders to develop strategies and solutions for complex ER issues.
  • Work closely and collaboratively with Legal Counsel and the People Leads as key stakeholders to ensure the business remains compliant with legislation and other legal developments, following an early engagement operating model.
  • Analyse data, documents, and evidence to evaluate the merits of each case and determine appropriate actions or recommendations.
  • Develop and deliver training material across our projects on ER matters, raising awareness and improving knowledge among Line Managers and other stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with Legal Counsel to manage and review our Employment Policies and practices as appropriate to ensure these are up to date and fit for purpose.
  • Support Legal Counsel on the preparation of subject access requests and employment tribunal requirements, preparing documentation and evidence, ensuring all necessary deadlines are met.
  • Produce reports, policy documents, and guidance notes on employee relations matters, conducting thorough research, analysing data, and gathering relevant information to create clear and concise documents.
  • Build collaborative and productive working relationships with the People Operations team as well as the broader function and business stakeholders.

Professional Qualifications:

  • Post Graduate Diploma; CIPD Associate Level or working towards CIPD Level 7 / CIPD Member Level desirable.
  • Excellent knowledge of Employment Law and People procedures.
  • A credible influencer who can build trusting relationships with stakeholders, providing guidance and support in decision-making.
  • Exceptional report & letter writing.

Functional Reporting Line: People Lead, Europe Hub

Location: Dartford or Manchester with a requirement to cover nationally.
