Introduction: Kier Strategic Highways are looking for an Environmental Coordinator to join the Design Services team.
Key Responsibilities:
Programming of assessments, further site surveys, watching briefs and organising specialist assessments as and when required for renewals and improvement schemes and studies. Ensuring tasks are correctly priced and seeing through delivery on time and to budget.
Maintaining and constantly improving the environmental assessment procedure to increase effective information transfer throughout the schemes delivery process.
Undertake and/or manage complex Environmental Assessments for improvement schemes.
Selected pre-review of renewals assessments prior to authorisation by the line manager or sub-consultant Environmental Manager support function.
Training new starters (all departments) in environmental assessment Procedure.
Ensuring Team compliance on H&S for site visits.
For all studies and schemes - ensure compliance at all times with European and UK Environmental and wildlife laws.
Coordination of all requests for environmental assessment for road maintenance and improvement schemes ensuring delivery on time and to budget and raising EWN's as appropriate
Identification of environmental issues relating to schemes + conception and implementation of appropriate mitigation.
Wider support role in the design process for Environmental Enhancement schemes as funded by the Environmental Designated Funds route.
Develop a specialism, such as water quality, contaminated land, flood risk, air quality, noise and vibration, cultural heritage, arboriculture, nature conservation etc - based on business need.
Skills and Experience require:
Qualified to degree level, or equivalent, in an appropriate environmental discipline.
Experience of Civil Engineering or Construction and large multidisciplinary projects preferred.
Experience of driving and assessing sustainability.
The ability to positively influence others.
Adaptable team player with good initiative and strong problem solving skills.
Enthusiastic, self-motivated with the ability to self-learn.
Ability to multi-task and work under pressure.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking.
Excellent IT skills.
The willingness and ability to travel nationally (a clean UK driving licence is essential
