My client requires an Environmental Health Officer (grade 6), in order to be considered for the role you must be in posession of some essential qualifications and skills. The aim is to become a key member of the environmental health and licensing team assisting the operational manager in the business team.
as an environmental health officer the candidate will work as part of a team aiming to deliver services including inspection of food premises, planning applications and dealing with complaints in respect of noise and odours.
the post holder must be knowledgeable in legislation, policy, guidance , codes of practise, standards etc in relation to food hygeine and health and safety. as an health and saftey officer you will be significantly involved in food hygeine inspections and you must exercise judgement and make decisions within the framework of legislation and policy.
you will be expected to deal with the public in a tactful and diplomatic manner. you will liase with key figures both internally and externally, internally expect to liase with environmental health, contact centres, planning officers, building control, legal departments and relevant directors.
externally expect to be in dialect with food business operators, company representatives, business owners, the FSA, environment agency, the HSE, govermental organisations, legal and court representatives, public health England , parish councils and general public.
the essential skills and qualifcations are as follows:
- degree/diploma in environmental health
- EHORB/EHRB registration
- experience of inspecting premises with knowledge of legislation
- post qualification experience in local authority food hygeine and HSE enforcement
- membership of professional body such as CIEH
- experience in full range of enforcement actions including service of notices , compiling prosecution files and court procedures
- experience in all areas of health and safety including food safety, nuisance and planning
- possess evidence of continuos professional development
- have personal strength and resiliance to thrive in a fast paced dynamic environment
- must be willing to work outside
- must have access to own vehicle
