The Intro:-
I am currently looking for an Environmental Advisor with a solid knowledge of Noise and Vibration in the construction industry to work as a Noise and Vibration Lead on one of the biggest projects kicking off in London at the moment.
So for the Jargon, here is the summary of the role:-
''The N&V Lead requires demonstrable experience of construction N&V, Construction Methodologies, deployment of best practicable means (BPM), familiarity with BS5228 and computer noise modelling packages and proficiency in Microsoft Excel''
The Employer:-
This project is a joint venture between 3 major players in both the UK and international markets with divisions in sectors such as Civils, rail, tunnelling, infrastructure and more. I worked with BAM, one of the JV, for many years whilst Engineering and know first hand that the provide an environment where you can grow and develop, even as a freelancer!
Having spent many years Engineering, I've also worked directly with many of the senior team on the project, all of whom were a pleasure to work with. The type of people that like to work productively to solve any issues and ensure an effective delivery of the project. Just good people doing good work. Also, keen for that post work wind down, whether it be via beer, touch rugby or something else, there's always something going on!
The Role:-
As mentioned above, Noise and Vibration is what the game is all about. Your main responsibility would be to manage the N&V aspects (including commercial) of the contract and to provide technical support to the Environmental team.
Ideally you would have a sound working knowledge of the Section 61 process and being a member of the Institute of Acoustics would really set you above the rest.
My client would ideally be looking for someone to work on a part time basis however, this is not essential though as they understand that this is quite a big ask. The role is also likely to go on for 5+ years.
You:-
As the ideal candidate you will - as standard - have understanding and skill in the above mentioned but more than that, you will be someone who loves to work within a team, liaising with multiple sections at once. All of which will have different requirements, needs and wants. So you'll have to be someone that enjoys (or at the very least is comfortable with) keeping multiple balls in the air at once.
The team you will be joining are light heart-ed and love to live by the work hard play hard motto, so they're a great bunch to get to know and they're expecting you to be the same. There's a lot of work to do so so a healthy and productive working environment is essential.
