Estimator - Pre-Construction Team

Location: Flexible working available, where you will be based between out of our Sheffield office and sites across Yorkshire, with home working available and some travel to other offices and sites

Business Area: Kier Places - Capital Projects - Preconstruction team

Contract & hours: Permanent, full time, Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week

Kier Places are recruiting for an experienced?Estimator ?to join the passionate Capital Projects team working on our northern contracts and other capital projects within Sheffield and the North. The projects vary in size and complexity ranging in value from £1 million to £30 million and are centred around external fabric replacement and refurbishment, decarbonisation / energy efficiency measures & general upgrading.

This is a newly formed dynamic team specialising in this new workstream which has exciting huge long-term growth potential. We're?looking for an individual who has is motivated, driven, determined, ambitious with a passion for the project at hand and who has ability to work as part of a close-knit team.

Key Responsibilities

As an Estimator with this team in Kier, you'll be focused on advising, preparing & winning work through the existing framework and two stage tenders for the business as well as competently compiling cost plans - this will require you to manage robust and long-term relationships with clients and internal teams in line with the general strategy; as well as assist in managing the production of tender documents, attend pre-tender and post tender interviews, and reporting upstream to key members of the preconstruction team.

What do we need from you?

To be an Estimator with Kier Capital Projects, you'll be degree qualified in a Quantity Surveying or Construction related field; have good all-round, technical construction knowledge; have experience in a Main Contractor / Tier 1 Contractor company; with?similar public sector experience within mid/high-rise Residential or Commercial projects?for?fit-outs, responsive maintenance, refurbishments, planned works, capital construction, or external fabric / cladding schemes.

Take-off and bill of quantities production is essential together with experience of Excel, Conquest, Causeway, Evaluate, and/or CostX.
