Finance Manager/Controller, you will oversee financial management, reporting, compliance, team leadership, and process improvement. You will ensure strong internal controls, accurate reporting, and efficient financial operations that support sustainable business growth.

The Qualifications We Seek
Professional accounting qualification (CA ANZ, CPA Australia or equivalent)
A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in managerial/leadership finance roles
Exceptional financial discipline
Strong knowledge of IFRS and Australian financial reporting standards
Understanding of financial controls and processes
Experience in financial forecasting and planning
Experience managing small teams
Good understanding of systems and platforms relevant to the role including accounting software (preferably MYOB) and payroll systems/Employer of Record platforms (Employment Hero preferred)
Experience with expense management tools (Concur is an advantage) and strong Excel skills
Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, global environment, managing priorities and attending occasional out-of-hours meetings
Capability to build scalable financial processes during growth periods and maintain strict month-end discipline
Strong ownership of internal controls, statutory compliance (including GST), and B Corp certification requirements, including ESG reporting and audits
Ability to lead and develop a small finance team while collaborating across departments and communicating insights to non-financial stakeholders
Ability to drive process efficiencies, support technology upgrades, automation, and integrate sustainability objectives into financial planning
Your Daily Tasks Financial Management (60%)
Own the end-to-end month-end process, ensuring timely and accurate journals, accruals, and adjustments
Ensure strict month-end close deadlines
Prepare for and manage external audits
Develop and implement balance sheet reconciliation procedures
Review reconciliations for accuracy and compliance
Oversee banking relationships and payment approvals
Oversee payroll for local and globalized staff
Manage debtors and creditors
Oversee staff credit card processes
Manage insurance and workers' compensation reviews
Establish service agreements for contractors
Financial Reporting and Compliance (15%)
Deliver profitability analysis and variance reporting
Produce monthly management accounts
Develop and implement voyage profitability reporting
Strengthen internal control frameworks
Ensure statutory compliance, tax obligations, and policy adherence
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual statements
People Management (10%)
Lead and develop the finance team
Set KPIs and ensure performance milestones
Manage workloads to ensure accurate output
Collaborate with departments to provide financial guidance
Process Improvement & Systems (10%)
Assess existing ERP systems; lead upgrades if needed
Review processes and address gaps
Implement finance efficiencies
Support AI-driven upgrades
Sustainability (5%)
Integrate sustainability goals into financial planning
Track and report ESG metrics
