Summary

Listed on the main market of the London Stock Exchange, MJ Gleeson plc is one of the fastest growing housebuilders in the UK. The Group has a strong financial position and a unique business model with continued opportunities for sustainable growth.

The Group comprises 2 trading divisions, Gleeson Homes and Gleeson Land. Gleeson Homes specialises in low-cost house building, providing new homes in the North of England and the Midlands for the people who need them most. We deliver this through 3 Divisions, each of which comprises 3 Regional Offices. Over 80% of our customers are first time buyers and around two thirds are key workers. 4 out of 5 of our homes are built in the most deprived areas of the UK. Main Responsibilities

In order to support the continued maturity of the business, Gleeson Homes is looking for a high-calibre finance professional to support the Homes Financial Controller in delivering a range of projects across the finance function. The role will be based in our Sheffield Head Office (offering hybrid working arrangements), with occasional travel required to our Regional offices or sites sufficient to deliver specific projects.

To be successful in this new role you will need to deliver projects in a range of areas from financial modelling to processes and controls, and in a range of platforms from Excel to Power BI. You will need to be an excellent communicator, verbally and in writing, and able to identify and build relationships with a range of stakeholders across the business. The role will require the discipline to deliver certain projects working independently, the flexibility to change priorities quickly and the collaborative skills to deliver as part of a team.

The finance skillset is valued across the Gleeson business, and so the role will have exposure to a number of different departments and to senior management across the business. Communication skills with individuals with a wide range of backgrounds are essential. The successful applicant will also be required to support the Homes Financial Controller in month end tasks, although regular tasks will deliberately be kept from this individual to ensure projects continue to be progressed through month end periods.

* Experience of modelling forecasts and other financial scenarios
* Experience of managing and delivering projects
* Ability to deliver to deadlines
* Identifying areas of improvements within a finance function and the wider business
* Knowledge of controls & processes
* Experience of improving financial reporting
* A confident IT user with strong Excel skills and an ability to pick up new IT systems quickly. Previous COINS and Power BI experience would be advantageous
