Fire and Petroleum Manager (Engineer)
Location: Welwyn Garden City
Salary: £60k to £65k + Bonus + Car
Are you a Petroleum Engineer with knowledge of Fire Risk? Do you have experience of managing multiple sites for a big corporation? Are you looking for a bigger remit and responsibility?
We have a great career opportunity for a Petroleum engineer who has excellent technical experience within Petroleum Engineering and Fire Risk and is looking to work for one of the forerunners in petroleum retail. The remit will consist of overseeing the entire estate of the business to ensure all sites are issue-free, compliant and that the organisation stays ahead of all competition. This role will be challenging, instrumental and with excellent prospects to develop and progress.
The Company
My client is amongst the largest retailers within the UK with an ever-growing global presence. They currently have the largest estate in fuel forecourts within the UK and with the addition of their global concerns, the fuel part of their business equates to nearly a £1 billion. The Role
The role is to oversee the entire estate within the UK business in relation to all technical issues, compliance and engineering and be the Go-To Technical expert in Petroleum and Fire Risk on any of the sites. The key objectives are:
Understand and evaluate the entire estate to pinpoint any gaps and produce a 3-5 year road-map to present to senior Leadership team highlighting ways in which to stay ahead of competitors
Become the company's Technical Go-To person for Fire and Petroleum issues by engaging with all concerned parties (Engineering team, Commercial team, Retail business, Suppliers, Contractors, etc) and raising own profile through networking
Build relationships with local authorities and Petroleum Officers, and conduct SWOT Analysis to develop procedures to keep company legally compliant
Demonstrate collaborative and communicative approach by liaising with all stakeholders and contractors and being forthcoming and empathetic with assistance to achieve their buy-in and ensure an efficient operation
Exhibit a proactive and can-do attitude by pre-empting potential issues through regular reviews with Stakeholders
This role will involve UK wide travel
The Person
Ideally, you will;
A minimum of 5 years experience in Petroleum and/or Fire Risk Engineer
A minimum of a HND in Petroleum or Fire engineering (with petroleum bias)
Have previous experience as a hands-on engineer
Have excellent communication skills
Have experience of managing multiple sites
Have very good understanding of compliance and risk within fire and fuel
Have the ability to communicate and lead meetings/presentations with multiple stakeholders on multiple sites
Be prepared to work unpredictable hours, as and where the work demands
