Fire Engineer Job in Sevenoaks, Kent / Site / Remote Working

Fire Engineer job in Sevenoaks, Kent, covering sites across the South East. You will be joining a fast-growing fire engineering department of a successful multidisciplinary consultancy specialising in the residential and affordable housing sector. The role offers a negotiable salary ranging from £50,000 - £70,000 + Travel + discretionary bonus. We are looking for intermediate-level Fire Engineers or Fire Safety professionals that are ideally current MIFSM and MIFireE or working towards.

The consultancy offers a multitude of services including project management, surveying, cost consultancy, and design management, and specialise in residential, affordable housing, major regeneration and remedial projects for Housing Associations, Local Authorities and Private Developers. Made up of around 100 employees and 4 offices, they are continuing to grow with a strong pipeline of work across London, Southeast and Midlands.

You will be joining an already established team of Senior Fire Engineers and Fire Engineers, liaising closely with clients, contractors, developers and Clerk of Works to deliver comprehensive internal and external fire risk assessments 1-4, with the support of the team. Focused currently on residential, high-rise, cladding & façade projects, you will be working across other sectors as the department grows. The role will be largely site based or working remotely with occasional requirement to attend their Sevenoaks office.

Role & Responsibilities

- Liaise closely with Clients, Contractors, Developers, Clerk of Works and other key stakeholders

- Advise clients of pragmatic, cost-effective solutions to mitigate risk where possible

- Assist the client in RAG assessing their stock to understand their potential liabilities

- Review information relating to fire safety that the client has accrued for their buildings to date and advise them of its suitability

- Conduct Fire Risk Assessments both internally and externally in-line with current industry guidance and compile a detailed report with the support of Senior Fire Engineers

- Provide CPD to clients making them aware of their obligations as building owners

- Peer review reports from other Fire Engineers as requested

- Work with the project team to produce cost effective, pragmatic remedial solutions where possible

- Attend client/resident meetings when required to explain reports that have been issued and the implications of the findings

- Work with the project team to compile the ER's

- Peer review the contractors' proposals

- Liaise closely with the clerk of works and the contractor and carry out compliance checks of the works as they progress

- Attend site progress meetings when required.

Required Skills & Experience

- Ideally 3+ years' experience in fire engineering / fire safety

- Understanding of external wall system risk assessments (further training can be provided)

- Understanding of Fire Risk Assessments 1-4 (further training can be provided)

- Some experience in cladding / façade remedial projects

- MIFSM and ideally MIFireE or working towards

- Ability to travel across London and Home Counties.
