March 8, 2018 | Comments Off on Fire Engineer / Chartered Surveyor
Our client, a small fire engineering consultancy based in South Yorkshire, specialising in fire safety and risk assessment works throughout the UK is looking to expand their team of engineers with either a Qualified Fire Engineer or Chartered Surveyor with a building control background who is wishing to further their career specialising in fire safety.
Due to continued growth we are seeking to recruit a fully qualified Fire Engineer or Chartered Surveyor with at least 10 years post qualification experience.
The work mainly comprises working alongside contractors and architects and developing their schemes that can deliver design solutions which meet client aspirations and satisfy the functional requirements of fire safety.
Much of the work involves using BS9999 & BS9991 as well as AD-B and therefore a thorough understanding and working knowledge of these codes is fundamental to the work. The work will involve reviewing architectural drawings and working directly with the architects in delivering solutions that satisfy the functional requirements on fire safety. You will be expected to prepare fire strategy reports and review these with the client and the approving authorities. Good written and communication skills at meetings are essential to the job.
Occasionally, bespoke fire engineered solutions have to be developed , and a knowledge of advanced calculation methods would be required for the fire engineer, but is not essential to an applicant with a chartered surveyors background.
Our client operates nationwide although the company offices are based in Doncaster in which the majority of the candidate's time will be office based. You will be expected to attend client meetings and carry out site inspections to check that fire safety measures have been adequately installed (BUT NOT TO SIGN OFF) and therefore a good appreciation of the various types of fire safety products and how they are installed is important.
