Kier Places are looking to recruit a Project Manager who has gained a wealth of experience covering a multitude of M&E services. Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, we will look to you to ensure our client's needs are met and project delivery is to a good standard, whilst developing and maintaining business relationships, and overseeing several schemes of works of mainly Refurbishment & some Construction nature, with a range of value between £10k to £3m. Projects can include installing security access systems, building fabric repairs, electrical rewiring, boiler & heating systems, and anything else relating to the repair, maintenance or refurbishment of government buildings.

The key clients that this role will support includes the Ministry of Justice, Home Office and the Government Property agency with this particular contract currently covering the South of the UK with over 300 buildings. Although this role is predominantly covering the South West of the UK including Central London, Devon, Cornwall, Dorset, Avon, Wiltshire, Hampshire and Sussex, the successful candidate may be required to spend time away overnight when the business requires.


Key Responsibilities

As a trusted Project Manager, you will support the implementation of H&S management systems, meet SHE targets at project level, including conducting contractor and site audits, and consult & assist the site team in effective planning to ensure good operational health and safety is achieved. You will be accountable for appointing, instructing, monitoring and coordinating subcontractors and technical consultants; and undertake asset condition audits to promote an accurate forward maintenance register (FMR) to support a proactive pipeline of works.

As well as this, you will be focused on being responsible for financial control of projects, ensuring P&L tracking requirements are met, effective risk and opportunity management, and ensuring commercial aspects and targets of the project are communicated.

In order to effectively collaborate within this rewarding environment, you will undertake temporary works coordinator duties (TWC); proactively offer energy efficient, sustainable solutions, and maintain awareness of any new corporate responsibility activities.


What do we need from you?

The ideal Project Manager will have a background in providing similar refurbishment & facilities management services; a high level of knowledge in relevant M&E or Construction subjects, with willingness to undertake training; have a good understanding of Kier Facilities Management & Hard Services; substantial background as a project manager with experience of delivering low to high value projects of varying scopes within a similar contract; and commercially focused experience.

You should also have experience of being client facing within high level government contracts, and have the ability to write a scope of works for tender purposes. The role will include scoping, tendering, tender analysis and delivery of all aspects of M&E works from conception to completion.

We are also seeking those with Construction Design Management (CDM) & New Engineer Contract 3 (NEC3) experience; Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) or equivalent; IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH; industry relevant qualifications, including qualifications such as Prince 2 or equivalent; and a high level of IT skills to include in Word/Excel and MPP (Project Programming).

Due to the nature of this role & contract portfolio, you should be prepared to spend time away from home overnight and regular travel, and this role requires a Government Security Check (SC) Clearance which will take place during your employment, and can take 2+ months to complete.
