Title: General Foreman

Location: Godstone, Kent


Kier are looking for an experienced General Foreman to join us on a new civil engineering project in Kent, this is comprised of the Smart Highways roll out on the M20 and M23.

Responsibilities:

  • Safety, Health & Environmental
  • Deliver site inductions and tool box talks
  • Issue permits to work and sign offs
  • Ensure Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) register is maintained and up to date
  • Contribute to SHE plan
  • Evaluate method statements and risk assessments
  • Chair weekly safety meetings
  • Deliver regular SUSA talks
  • Maintain adequate supply of PPE
  • Co-operate and liaise with the Safety, Health & Environment advisors at all times
  • Lead by example
  • Sub-Contractors
  • Set sub-contractors to work
  • Supervise the works
  • Deal with sub-contractor RFI's and SSI's
  • Manage sub-contractor materials, deliveries, unloading and storage
  • Attend progress meetings as required
  • Liaise with sub-contractors regarding labour and plant resource requirements
  • Maintain regular communication with sub-contractors ace to face/phone/email)
  • Sign off sub-contractor sign off sheets
  • Witness testing
  • Produce and update snagging sheets
  • Maintain Quality Assurance file
  • Check specification and drawings against works completed and materials used
  • Liaise with client's representatives
  • Maintain visual effect of site on surrounding area.
  • Planning/Programming
  • Help produce where required and work to construction programme
  • Produce mini programmes for sectional work
  • Establish and maintain good quality and safe site set-up
  • Evaluate sub-contractor programmes
  • Attend internal site progress meetings
  • Order correct quantities of materials
  • Order fit-for-purpose plant
  • People Management
  • Agree roles/responsibilities/targets
  • Establish training needs and arrange training (on-the-job)
  • Monitor/assess performance and give feedback on performance
  • Get to know team members and help accommodate special needs as required
  • Understand team members strengths/capabilities to allocate workload appropriately
  • Lead by example
  • Ensure site direct labour is correctly supervised and is correctly qualified for the role
  • Agree and sign off time sheets
  • Record Keeping
  • Maintain site diary and personal daily dairy
  • Maintain goods and plant received records
  • Record site inductions
  • Take meeting minutes and distribute to relevant parties
  • Maintain signing in records sheets
  • Maintain CSCS card records
