Kier Utilities is looking to recruit a General Operative, who will report to the ­­Front Line Manager (FLM). The post holder will operate as part of a larger team to deliver works as directed by the FLM. This includes monitoring basic tasks and carrying out tasks in a specific discipline.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Responsibility for personal and site safety.
  • Responsible for operating to standards of safety, compliance & competence required by own professional driving qualifications.
  • Carry out general construction work as instructed by the Team Leader and/or FLM.
  • Operate and maintain at least two pieces of plant, drive vans, pickup trucks and/or lorries above 7.5 tonnes and relevant attachments.
  • Ensure all work complies with relevant Safety, Health and Environmental legislation, business policy & procedure and local instruction & guidance.
  • Ensure full and correct use of vehicles, plant and materials, keeping wastage to a minimum.
  • Any ad-hoc duties that may occur as instructed by the management team or team leader / ganger.

  • UK driving licence

  • Abrasive Wheels
  • Manual Handling
  • Able to operate in a flexible and adaptable manner and work as part of a team
  • Have reasonable written and numerical skills
  • NRSWA Operative
  • Open to attend training programmes to increase individual skills and knowledge
