"At Elk Recruitment, we are looking for a driven General Operative to join our client's growing team based in Co.Kilkenny. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced General Operative to make a real impact in an innovative and growing organization.

  • day shift (8.00am - 4.30pm) and a 2-shift rotating cycle.

Your new role includes:

  • Cutting stone with machinery (saws/wire saws) in either quarry / factory or both.
  • Store, load, unload and move materials around the premises on a fork truck or gantry, discarding of waste into the skips (with/without fork truck)
  • Manual Handling unaided (lifting physical stone/consumables such as blades/timbers / skids into position or skips)
  • Processing stone to a finished product (unloading and reloading pallets/crates), whilst putting tiles through a processing machine.
  • Selecting and packing of finished product from a cutting table or production line onto a pallet or into a crate.
  • Operating Heavy Machinery such as a loader/dumper/excavator/drill rig within the quarry or factory premises.
  • Operating cranes/gantry with use of chains/slings/suction pads or slab-grabber.
  • Grading slabs for quality purposes where applicable.
  • Cleaning / Wash-down the workplace on a regular basis with both power washer or normal washdown hoses (use brushes/shovels when needed)
  • Using a computer to print labels and attach these labels to slabs or blocks with the use of a silicon gun.
  • Routine scheduled maintenance such as oil and lubrication top-up, vehicle inspection, fuelling your vehicle.

Experience you need:

  • We are looking for candidates that are immediately available to start.
  • General Operative experience
  • Experience in using saws/wire, either quarry / factory
  • Manual handling, and forklift experience is a distinct advantage
  • Driving Licence (required)
  • English (required)
