Graduate Project Developer - Forsa Energy

Salary - £28K plus pension contribution, private health, discretionary bonus (up to 25%)

Greenock, Scotland with travel across the UK

Forsa Energy have an opportunity for a recent graduate with an engineering or environmental related degree within our Project Team.

We will also consider applicants who have obtained a non-engineering-based degree who have some work experience gained the energy market or project development, and can demonstrate a strong interest in environmental management.

The successful applicant will be required to travel to sites on occasion therefore a driver's licence is required. You will also need a high degree of flexibility as the nature of the business is project dominated and the role adapts to fit the specific requirements of the project.

Responsibilities:

Assisting the Project Director and Project Development Team with the identification and assessment of sites and opportunities appropriate to Forsa's Reserve Gas, Storage and Renewable Energy Generation businesses. This will include carrying out desktop searches, site visits and the initial assessment to determine availability of gas and grid connections, land ownership and any key developmental constraints.

The successful candidate to be involved in:

  • Developing and maintaining a database of Forsa's operational and development projects including collecting key information from the Forsa team and providing an easy access tool for the business.
  • Supporting the Project Director in the development of active projects including supporting the planning process, land agreements, grid/gas connections and liaising with the construction team to confirm designs and layouts.
  • Working with the Project Developer to gain an understanding of the Capacity Market with the aim of taking on responsibility for the management of the business' CM strategy and delivery.
  • Gaining an understanding of the development process from site identification through to operation and apply that knowledge to supporting the development team.
  • With the support of the development team, identifying potential sites for development of new Reserve Gas Generation Projects and as required other opportunities identified for development.
  • Developing an understanding of the regulation of the energy market, how it changes and the impact this might have on the Forsa business and in selecting sites for development.
  • Carrying out initial assessments of technologies and applications that might be suitable for development by Forsa, based on desktop research and an understanding of the Forsa business model and USP.

What we offer:

From day one you will be an integral member of the development team and will work closely with the team on all aspects of project development.

We will provide training and support in all the processes we use to develop opportunities from the ground up, including training in solution design, planning and financial evaluation of opportunities, you will also be spending time with our construction and operations teams.

Our expectation is that within 12 months you will take the lead on the initial front end development activities for the business and be leading the delivery of our Capacity Market Strategy.

Whilst the initial emphasis is on the early development activities of the business, the training provided and exposure means that we would expect you to be able to take on a broader development role after 12 months.

The role will be based in Greenock but will not be restricted to the Scottish Market. We are actively developing projects across the UK and you will be required to cover development in all areas.

About you - you will have:

  • A engineering or environmental related degree from a rated university
  • Industry experience gained in the energy sector would be an advantage
