The Group comprises 2 trading divisions, Gleeson Homes and Gleeson Land. Gleeson Homes specialises in low-cost house building, providing new homes in the North of England and the Midlands for the people who need them most. Over 80% of our customers are first time buyers and around two thirds are key workers. 4 out 5 of our homes are built in the most deprived areas of the UK. Gleeson Land specialises in promoting land, securing attractive residential planning consents on land mainly in the South of England, which is supplied to other housebuilders to meet their increasing need for high-quality consented sites.

Due to continued rapid growth across the business, a new role has opened up for a Group Accountant. This role reports to the Senior Group Accountant and works closely with the Deputy Group Financial Controller and Group Financial Controller as part of a highly skilled and professional Group Finance team. This key role will be responsible for accurate and timely consolidated financial reporting for the Group.

Main Responsibilities

  • Monthly consolidation and preparation of Group results
  • Half year results consolidation and interim accounts reporting
  • Year end results consolidation and statutory financial statements including PLC consolidated accounts and 7 trading subsidiaries (all IFRS)
  • Consolidating the annual budget and preparing budget reporting packs
  • Providing accounting support to the operating divisions
  • Liaising with external auditors during the annual audit process
  • Supporting the timely completion of tax returns and payments
  • Reporting the cash position of the Group through accurate daily tracking and forecasting
  • Ad hoc projects / analysis as required

  • Strong communication skills - ability to summarise information, provide regular progress updates, and relay key messages
  • 'Will do' attitude - willingness to get things done, take on new projects and manage own workload

Candidate Profile:

  • Qualified accountant, ideally 1-2 years post qualified experience
  • Would suit a first-time mover from practice into industry
  • Ideally Big 4 / Top 10 trained
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge (IFRS)
  • Experience with group accounts and consolidations would be helpful
