Location: Sandy, Bedfordshire (with extensive UK travel)
Kier Group is seeking an Occupational Health Manager to join the team on a permanent basis in Sandy, Bedfordshire. This position will lead the function across Kier Group and will report into the Group SHEA Director. The successful candidate will manage the occupational health team and develop / implement occupational health policy, with an aim of ensuring and improving employee health and wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities (but not limited to):
- To implement and comply with Kier Group's Occupational Health policy and procedures, all legal requirements, and best practice
- To act as an Occupational Health and Wellbeing professional providing advice to key stakeholders on current and emerging health issues in an effort to minimise the health risks within Kier
- To encourage and support the creation of a functional culture that embraces and supports Occupational Health principles and goals.
- To interface with Kier Group HR and SHEA on current and emerging occupational health related risks.
- To identify short-term and medium term market trends, and support the development and implementation of Group and / or the business unit's strategy.
- To develop, support and lead relationships with current and potential stakeholders such as customers, contractors, sub contractors and suppliers.
- To devise, deliver and update training sessions relating to Occupational health including induction programmes.
- To provide an effective immunisation and travel programme in line with department of health (DOH) guidelines and in accordance with the Green book.
- To define occupational health performance indicators, set up the collection of this data, collect it, interpret it and communicate it to stakeholders.
- To maintain an overview of complex OH cases (litigation, complex employment law, grievances disability and discrimination etc), liaising with the multidisciplinary team (e.g. legal HR OH Physician) as necessary.
- Experienced qualified health professional (Primary care / OH background)
- Experience of operating senior level both internally and externally (JV's etc.)
- Extensive knowledge of current SHE legislation relevant to Occupational Health
- Extensive experience of construction industry health management requirements and a comprehensive understanding of Health and Safety process and policy
- Experience of delivering and implementing Occupational health improvement
- programmes with demonstrable commercial results
- Demonstrable leadership skill with a focused on achieving the strategic goals of the Function
- and aligning with corporate vision
- Previous/Current experience in a managerial role or equivalent
- Extensive experience in similar or supporting post - leading SHEA functions in large
- organisations
- Experience of operating at Board level
- A comprehensive understanding of the construction related health management
- A comprehensive understanding of health and safety legislation
