Group Tax Accountant

An opportunity has arisen for a talented tax accountant to join Breedon's group finance team based at Breedon-on-the-Hill, near East Midlands Airport (hybrid working available, part time considered).

The role will give the successful candidate exposure to a wide variety of both UK and Irish taxes, and possibly the USA given the Group's growth ambitions.

Although previous tax experience gained in either practice or industry would be an advantage, this role would also suit someone looking to develop a career in tax from a more general accounting background.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with year-end current and deferred tax provisioning and statutory disclosures for Group Reporting and subsidiaries - both UK and RoI
  • Collating detailed tax information to enable PWC to prepare corporation tax computations and returns
  • Preparation of Group monthly tax charge for management accounts reporting, together with Budget and Forecast models using Cognos
  • Calculation of quarterly POA
  • Assisting with review and submission of VAT returns - UK and RoI
  • Assisting with ongoing migration of UK and RoI companies onto Comply First Time VAT compliance software
  • Reviewing and documenting existing tax processes and controls, and assisting with the identification and implementation of improvements
  • Providing regular ad hoc advice to the business regarding VAT, CIS/RCT etc
  • Completion of annual PSA calculation and submission to HMRC
  • Assisting with the roll out of changes arising from new tax legislation eg. Plastic Packaging Tax, Transfer Pricing etc
  • Helping integrate acquired businesses into the Group's tax processes
  • Preparing and presenting tax training to the business as required
  • Maintaining ongoing relationship with HMRC and our external tax advisors
